My New Life in East Nashville, By Kimberly Novosel
Just a couple of months ago, I found myself longing for a change. I had lived in 12th South/Belmont area for nine years, and though I loved it, I wished for a lifestyle where I could walk almost anywhere I needed to go. Not even looking to move or buy a home, I stumbled upon the perfect one bedroom condo in East Nashville. I had spent some time over there at the bars and restaurants, and at events like the Tomato Art Festival. I went to see the condo and walked the neighborhood. I discovered that East Nashville was just what I was hoping for!
A month after moving in, I am settled and getting acquainted with the neighbors and neighborhood. On weekends, I walk down to the Turnip Truck to get some groceries for the week and maybe pick up a bottle of wine at Woodland Wine Merchant. Some mornings I walk to Bongo Java for an iced coffee. When I don’t feel like cooking I call down to Nuvo Burrito and go pick up a Streetcar of Desire Quesadilla (YUM!). There is so much to do just steps from my door: tanning at Hue, trivia at 3 Crow Bar, swing dancing at the 5 Spot.
Not only that, but I have had so much fun meeting people in the community. Richie Lee from Gym 5 is a new friend of mine. I can’t wait to try his Monday night kickboxing class. When it stormed last weekend, it seemed the whole neighborhood was at Red Door. I have to say, I am already so proud to call East Nashville home.
Why do you love your neighborhood?
