The Trail West building at Third and Broadway has been sold!
Downtown bar owners Steve Smith and Al Ross have bought the Trail West building in hopes of making it into a three story live music venue and steak house.
Ross and Smith acquired the building from Mayesco LLC. The purchase price has not been revealed but the two bar owners have stated the investment will cost 13 million for the remodeling. Originally the owners planned to name the steakhouse HarryO’s but it could change in the future.
The property has changed hands multiple times. First, developers had hopes to turn the property into a series of hotel. Then it changed hands and the potential began for a Walgreens. However, the contract expired and the debate was opened for what should hold a place in the downtown tourist district.
The potential for the Trail West building is immense. Steve Smith and Al Ross have had their hand in founding or owning Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Honky Tonk Central, Rippy’s Bar & Grill, and Broadway Brewhouse. There is also talk that they will head the development of a 24-hour diner in SoBro. Keep your eyes peeled on Trail West!
