Throughout history the question of whether or not a tomato is a fruit or vegetable has divided many people. Nashville’s tenth annual Tomato Art Fest looks to unite not divide fruits and vegetables of all kinds.
Founded in 2004 by Meg and Brett McFadyen, the Tomato Art Fest is an annual event that occurs in East Nashville to celebrate the tomato. This year’s festival will be held all day on Saturday August 10 in many locations throughout East Nashville.
The festival began when the McFadyens, who own the Art and Invention Gallery, hosted a show celebrating the tomato. Originally, there were just a few little events around the area to bring publicity to the gallery. The event has grown from there and last year had 35,000 people in attendance.
There will be several different events throughout the day including a 5k, concerts and bobbing for tomatoes.
