It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away! The Nashville area has several fun and family-friendly events going on on Thanksgiving this year. Take a few minutes to read more about them and consider getting active on Thanksgiving this year with your friends and family!
The 2012 Boulevard Bolt marks the 19th anniversary of this annual Thanksgiving Day event. The Boulevard Bolt is a certified 5-mile course, down and back on Belle Meade Boulevard. This fun event raises money for the homeless community in the greater Nashville area as a collaborative effort of Immanuel Baptist Church, St. George’s Episcopal Church and The Temple Congregation Ohabai Sholom.
Since 1944, the Boulevard Bolt has grown from 2,500 participants to over 8,200 in 2011! Today, the Boulevard Bolt ranks among the largest 5-mile races in the country and more importantly, over $1.8 million has been contributed to the homeless community in Nashville through its efforts. Registration runs unit Nov. 16. For more information about the Boulevard Bolt including registration info and frequently asked questions, visit here.
The event will begin and end at Titan Stadium and include the streets of downtown Nashville, passing by the Nashville Rescue Mission along the way, the Nashville nonprofit in which this event will support and benefit.
The event is asking that everyone who participates bring a frozen turkey to packet pickup, or on race day, to donate to the Nashville Rescue Mission. All food donated will be delivered to the Rescue Mission following the race. If you want to participate in this 1st annual event, act quickly because registration ends on Nov. 10.
