A recent poll conducted by Public Policy Polling polled 700 registered voters who say that Tennessee is the third most favorable state in the U.S., behind Hawaii and Colorado.
The random and automated interviews were done over the phone during a four-month polling period which ended in February. Those surveyed were asked during the poll if they had a favorable or unfavorable view of each state in question, with no criteria specified. 48 percent rated Tennessee favorable, 14 percent unfavorable and 38 percent were undecided.
The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development said the poll was not paid for or authorized by any campaign or political organization nor by the state.
