The art exhibit middle Tennessee has been waiting for opens at the Frist Center.
Ever since the Frist Center for the Visual Arts announced its summer exhibit, Sensuous Steel: Art Deco Automobiles, Nashvillians have barely been able to hold in their excitement.
This exhibit, which opens June 14, will feature automobiles and motorcycles from the 1930s and 1940s. These automobiles come from many different collections and “exemplify classic elegance, luxurious materials and iconography of motion.” This exhibit is guaranteed to hold the attention of everyone from the teenage boy who dreams of his own classic car to the elderly couple who loves the sleek designs of the art deco period.
Visitors to the exhibit will see 1929 Cord L-29 Cabriolet, 1930 KJ Henderson Streamline motorcycle, 1941 Chrysler Thunderbolt and many more classic cars that redefined American culture.
In addition to the main exhibit, the Frist will also hold a Sensuous Steel Film Series in the auditorium. Friday, June 7, the Frist will show The Great Gatsby, Speedy will be shown Friday, July 19, and Hot Rod will be shown August 16. All of these showings start at 7 pm.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the Frist Center at 615-744-3248 24 hours in advance or purchased in advance online at Now Playing Nashville for $10. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
