More information was released late last week concerning Josephine, a new restaurant headed for the 12South neighborhood in late 2013.
Josephine is being opened by Nashville restaurateur Miranda Whitcomb Pontes, who is most popular for her successful 1Ssouth ventures Burger Up and Frothy Monkey (which she no longer owns) and is a trusted and integral member of the 12South community. We briefly blogged about this new restaurant headed to the 12South neighborhood a few months ago.
Josephine will be located in the new 12 South Flats, an apartment/retail building currently being developed by H.G. Hill Realty and Southeast Venture, with a projected opening in August. Here, Josephine will take up a 3,160 square feet space in the south end cap of the building (the corner closest to the 12South Taproom & Grill).
In a press release, Pontes said that the restaurant will highlight “old school cooking techniques, emphasize proteins and utilize relationships.” She also said that it “isn’t fussy” and also that it’s not based on another restaurant in town.
The same architect who designed both Burger Up locations (there is a second location in Franklin) will serve as the architect for the project. The decor will be neutral and warm, utilizing orange and beige colors, a tiled floor, booth and banquette seating.
The restaurant will be open six days a week for lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. It will seat roughly 130 and have a small outdoor patio and a private dining room for groups.
