It looks as if 2014 has a lot of change in store for the Cool Springs area. A new project development, titled Ovation, is in the works and could dramatically alter the office, retail, and living spaces in Williamson County.
After months of discussions last year, work on the development should begin later this year.
Principals at SouthStar LLC and Highwoods, developers of the $700 million Ovation development in Cool Springs, recently spilled information that the all-in-one site will include 1.4 million square feet of new office space, 350,000 square feet of retail/restaurant space and an at least 300-bed hotel. That’s in addition to 850 residential units, including apartments for rent and condominiums, that will add to the city’s growing stock of housing options. No single-family detached homes will be part of the Ovation development.
“There’s a need in Franklin for more living quarters for the future workers and shoppers Ovation wants to bring,” McGehee said. McGehee also hinted at some of the future amenities at Ovation, adding that early plans include entertainment venues, wine bars and restaurants, though he said he could not divulge specifics yet.
Ovation’s plans should go before Franklin planning commissioners for possible approval later this month. A site groundbreaking for Ovation could come in June.
“We’re creating an environment that has energy 18 hours a day,” McGehee said. “They truly live there, they shop, they entertain.”
