“Old Style” New Construction

    Lately I have had a lot of people wanting to buy Near Vanderbilt, 12th South, Sylvan Park, Green Hills, or East Nashville.  They are usually looking for a nice old house in these neighborhoods with at least 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a decent floorplan.  The problem is that a lot of the older homes in these neighborhoods don’t have a lot of the features they would ultimately like to have like large closets, a master suite, an open floorplan, or even decent ceiling heights on the second floor. These new construction homes feature all of these things and the charm of an old style of house.  Just because a house is new doesn’t mean that it has to look that way.  These new homes are still built in the bungalow, four square, or craftsman style with the large front porches, high ceilings,  and hardwood floors.   If you want to make it even more vintage, put in a few fireplaces with old glass tiles, add pocket doors between some of the rooms, and finish a bathroom out with black & white tile, a clawfoot tub, and a pedestal sink.
