New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway | Nashville Events

Believe it or not, New Year’s Eve is just weeks away. Do you know how you’ll be celebrating the arrival of 2013 yet? Maybe you can ring in the new year, and rock out the old, with Music City and thousands of your friends and neighbors at Nashville’s New Year’s Eve Party on Broadway.

The free event wouldn’t be a Music City party without great music, which is why the lineup for the night includes The Fray, Sixpence None the Richer, Love and Theft and Striking Matches.

The downtown street party starts at 7:00 on New Year’s Eve. So, come out and celebrate like only Music City knows how! Aside from great music and fun, there will be the dropping of a 15-foot-tall red music note to ring in the new year in style. The Music Note Drop will descend 115 feet to trigger a fireworks display and major confetti cannons at the stoke of midnight. Sounds pretty fun to us! For more information, visit the New Year’s Eve Bash website here.

When did Nashville start celebrating the new year in such a big way? It started in 2009, the year in which The Gabe Dixon Band, Tommy Sims and Friends, Marc Broussard, Jonny Lang, The Dirt Drifters and Rodney Atkins performed to a crowd of 15,000 party-goers on Broadway. At the stroke of midnight, a giant, lighted guitar dropped 80 feet, setting off a fireworks display, and thus 2010 was joyously welcomed.

The 2009 event was such a hit with Nashvillians and visitors alike, that the city decided to throw the party again for New Year’s Eve 2010. Damien Horne, Heidi Newfield, Will Hoge, and Phil Vassar headlined the 2nd annual Music City New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway on December 31, 2010. Just 8 months after the historic floods of May 2010, 25,000 people came out to celebrate the outgoing 2010 and incoming 2011 in downtown Nashville.

The success of the event kept growing, and that was true for the New Year’s Eve Party held in 2011. The crowd swelled to 55,000 that year as Edens Edge, The Farm, Jeffrey Steele and Lynard Skynard put on a show for nearly 6 hours. The 15-foot-tall red music note was introduced this year, where it dropped 115 slowly, triggering fireworks and confetti cannons as the clock struck midnight.

As you can see, Music City’s New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway has grown into one of the best New Year’s Eve parties around. It’s a free party where you can ring in the new year with amazing music and thousands of your closest friends. More people, more music, and more fun every year. This year’s party planners are expecting nothing less for 2012, so bring your friends for the 2012 Music City New Year’s Eve Bash on Broadway!
