We briefly blogged about Josephine, a restaurant set to occupy space in the new 12South Flats, early last year. With opening day just weeks away, more details have been released about the newest eatery to hit Nashville’s restaurant scene.
Josephine, a production of Burger Up owner Miranda Whitcomb Pontes, is set to open on Nov. 24.
Design-wise, the interior will feature some classic European design elements, including tiled floors in the dining area and communal, bar, banquet and outdoor seating options.
The menu, which has been described as “lovely by unfussy,” will features menu categories such as ‘bites to share,’vegetables,’ ‘noodles and dumplings,’ meats and fish,’ and ‘sweets and cheese.’ All food sourcing will be thoughtful and fresh and somewhat seasonal, just as Pontes has successfully carried out with Burger Up.
Head chef Andy Little has been busy preparing the restaurant for its opening. As it stands, current plans are for the restaurant to offer a friends and family private dining experience on Nov. 21-23 and open the doors officially to the public for dinner at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov 24.
It will serve dinner starting at 5 p.m. Nov. 25-27. The restaurant will be closed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, reopening for dinner at 5 p.m. Nov. 29.
Josephine’s address is 2316 12th Ave. S. in the 12 South Flats mixed-use building.
Another new restaurant preparing its debut to the Nashville food scene is Prima, a restaurant that will call The Gulch home. Prima is expected to open sometime in early- to mid-2014.
There are few released details about Prima, but Pontes briefly mentioned in an article from nashvillescene.com that she is working to create the ‘sexiest restaurant in the U.S.’ as far as its aesthetic and design goes. The menu is said to be “modern fine-dining,” feature international flavors as well as be “farmer-defined” with an emphasis on fresh, local vegetables. An advanced wine program is expected to present itself alongside the menu.
