The city of Brentwood has finally got approval for the plans to build two new parks!

The plan is to take a 24-acre plot of land located south of Wikle Road West and split it into two separate parks. One side will be Flagpole Park and the other will be Wikle Park. The two will be connected by a walking path.

Flagpole Park, the southern park, is about 8.7 acres. It will include multipurpose fields, a paved walking trail, a basketball court, and 100-car parking accessible from Mallory Lane.

Wikle Park, the northern park, is 15 acres. The park will have a bathroom facility, playground, walking trails and another paved parking lot. Wikle Park with be adjacent to Wikle Road West.

The project is rumored to take 9-12 months to complete. City Manager, Kirk Bednar, says Wikle Park “Would have its own identity with much more of a neighborhood feel.” The city is leaning towards a Spring 2016 opening date.
