Not like this news is surprising to any of us who are lucky enough to call Music City home, but Nashville was named one of 5 top cities that are a “must-see” in 2013 this week by Conde Naste Traveler, a national travel magazine and website.
Lisa Gill, a senior editor with the magazine, revealed the five picks on NBC’s “Today” show Wednesday morning.
The reasons Nashville made the list? Gill says among many others, there are two reasons alone that Nashville is worth the visit: a trendy new food scene and the funky music scene.
Dubbed the “new Nashville” by the magazine, popular restaurants like The Patterson House and The Catbird Seat were mentioned for their haute souther cuisine and creative, tasty cocktails. The recommendation to stay at the sophisticated Hutton Hotel was also given.
Also on the list of hot cities are Amsterdam, New Orleans, Seoul and Toronto.
In Amsterdam, hot mentions included museums, locavore restaurants, avant-garde design shops and cutting-edge architecture. Seoul’s must-see itinerary includes its fashion, art, and food scenes. New Orleans mentiones included the restored and renovated Mercedes-Benz Superdome, the historic Joy Theatre on Canal Street, and the currently-under-renovation historic Saenger Theatre. Other places to visit include the historic Battle of New Orleans, Mardi Gras, and its booming restaurant scene and high-energy nightlife. Lastly, in Toronto the magazine recommends checking out its architecture, restaurants, and arts/cultural scene.
