After months at a stand still, the long-awaited development project at Berry Hill’s Melrose Theatre on Franklin Road is finally ready to take off with financing finalized and the ground broken.
The seven-acre project will include 220 luxury apartments and the re-use of the historic Melrose Theatre building. Two apartment buildings with 86 units will be attached to the existing center’s side and rear, with 134 apartments added directly behind the building. Parking will be located underground.
In the theatre lobby are plans for a restaurant with the existing in-line retail being expanded to include shops ranging from 1,200 to 4,800 square feet. Melrose Billiards, which has called its location next to the Theater home for 60 years, will stay.
Now empty space inside the barren movie theatre will turn into a 7,000 square foot resident amenity area, allowing an adaptive re-use of the theatre to continue its presence in Nashville and enjoyment by residents.
