This afternoon marks Lipscomb University’s annual kickoff of the holiday season with the Lighting of the Green. Take a picture with Santa Claus in the Bennett Campus Center, purchase dinner from Blue Coast Burrito, Chick-Fil-A, or Pizza Hut, and bring your blanket and lawn chairs out to the holiday music concert. The free event is open to the entire Nashville community and will feature performances by Amy Grant and Dave Barnes as well as student choruses on the Allen Arena mall before the 35-foot Christmas tree is adorned with thousands of lights.
Inside the Allen Arena, the Merry Marketplace will be selling unique gifts for everyone on your list from vendors including Ten Thousand Villages and The Pampered Chef, among many others. In the spirit of the holidays, this celebration will also serve as a collection point for Second Harvest Food Bank. Monetary donations as well as nonperishable food will be graciously accepted.
