Labor Day Weekend | Events in Nashville

    Events Happening All Weekend:

    National Folk Festival

    The National Folk Festival is right here in Nashville this year. It has been dubbed as one of the most ‘prestigious and longest-running celebrations of the arts.’ The 3-day event is being held at Bicentennial Park and will feature music, dance, workshops, kid’s activities, foods, storytelling, parades, craft exhibits and much, much more.  Hours are Friday, 7 p.m.-10:30 p.m.; Saturday, noon-10:30 p.m. and Sunday noon-6:30 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.nationalfolkfestival.com.     Shakespeare in the Park presents Romeo and Juliet

    With a relatively rain-free weekend forecasted, what could be more relaxing than enjoying an evening of theatre outside under the stars? The Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s 24th Annual Shakespeare in Centennial Park will be performing Romeo and Juliet through Monday. Pre-show entertainment begins at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are just $10.  For more information, call (615) 255-2273.

    Warhol Live

    The exhibit at the Frist Center explores Andy Warhol’s life and art through nearly 300 works. Visit www.fristcenter.org for more information.

    Friday, September 2 Events:

    Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson

    The country stars will perform live at the Woods Amphitheater on Friday night, September 2. The show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets start at $67. Woods Amphitheater at the Fontanel, located at 4225 Whites Creek Pike, Whites Creek, TN 37189.  For ticket information, visit here.

    Saturday, September 3 Events:

    First Saturday Art Crawl

    The Saturday Art Crawl features galleries from all over town. 1,000s attend each weekend, and many galleries provide wine and other refreshments. The galleries are open from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. and two free shuttles will be provided among the galleries through 10 p.m.  Click here to see the shuttle map and gallery listing.

    John Merritt Classic

    Presented by Tennessee State University, the John Merritt Classic celebrates the beloved and successful football coach.  This year the Tennessee Tigers will go up again Southern University at 6 p.m. at LP Field. Tailgating will begin in the parking lots at 9 a.m. on game day. For more information including ticket information, visit here.

    Musician’s Corner

    Come experience a slow, relaxing afternoon at Centennial Park and enjoy the sounds of a variety of local Nashville artists. Performances are 3 p.m.-6 p.m. This event is free and this weekend’s artists include Andrew Osenga, Attwater, Damien Horne and The CO. No seating is provided so bring a blanket or a lawn chair if so desired.

    Sunday, September 4 Events:

    80s Dance Party with DJ Jimmy

    Get your dance on with DJ Jimmy at the Rutledge on Sunday night! Tickets are available at the door. For more information, call The Rutledge at (615) 782-6858. This is an 18+ event only. The Rutledge is located at 410 4th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37201.

    Bluegrass Jam

    For a fun night of bluegrass and roots music, head to Station Inn on Sunday night! The show is first come, first serve with a start time of 9 p.m. For more information, call (615) 255-3307. Station Inn is located at 402 12th Avenue South, Nashville, TN 37203.
