The home, named “Aktiv,” was built in collaboration with prefab housemaker Ideabox and was previewed at the Portland Home & Garden Show last week.
Aktiv is a one-bedroom home which costs $86,500 and can be delivered to any empty lot by a semi-truck in one or two pieces – but homeowners won’t have to worry about assembling 1,000 screws, as it arrives already constructed and even partially furnished, with an Ikea bedroom, kitchen and bathroom installed. Ideabox and Ikea explain it as a personal euro flat that can go anywhere new owners want it.
Aktiv will be green and designed with socially-conscious homeowners in mind, with water efficient pipes, energy efficient appliances and LED light fixtures. Owners get to customize their Aktiv homes by choosing their own colors and surface materials.
