Guitar-shaped Skyscraper in the Works | Nashville Developments

If things go according to his plans, Travis Kelty, president of Impakt Real Estate, will bring a guitar-shaped skyscraper to the famed Nashville skyline in the coming years.

The project, dubbed “Strings,” already has both an architect and contractor on board. The only thing holding it back from its early development stages is a build site. Kelty has expressed his interest in the Gulch, as well as other trendy Nashville areas such as West End, Music Row and downtown. He hopes to have a site finalized in the next couple of months.

The building will cost an estimated $80-100 million to complete and will feature 32 stories and 300,000 square feet of space. It is planned to be a mixed-use space for use by restaurants, offices and residential condominiums.

Aside from plans for 20 exclusive, luxurious condos, amenities planned for Strings include floor to ceiling windows, high-speed elevators, onsite parking, 24-hour security, up to five restaurants, bars on the 31st and 32nd floors, a fitness center and an outdoor rooftop entertainment area.

I could not agree more with Noah Mead. Being a Nashville Native, I’m proud of my city’s musical heritage, but seriously, this? The structure seems to offer some pretty cool amenities, however it looks absolutely ridiculous. Nashville, in recent years, has grown so far past its redneck roots. For a hundred million dollars, I think Nashville would be better suited with a TASTEFUL structure that represents our musical history…think soaring glass and metal skyscraper with one guitaresque curved, sloping side. This architect should be hung by a few strings.

All they are going to do is knock down a gorgeous old building and build this tacky building. This is the most hideous thing I could ever imagine having in this city.

This drawing is strange. A guitar shaped building would be very cool. But his amateur had drawing with bad perspective. This is a good idea but this firm could not possibly design a skyscraper.
