This weekend is Labor Day weekend, with Monday marking the date of the actual holiday. Franklin, our neighbor to the south is playing host to its annual Jazz Fest this weekend. If you don’t have plans for the holiday weekend yet, consider checking out this fun festival.
With the possibility of rain in the forecast, this year event planners decided to host the festival indoors. It will be held about a mile away from Franklin’s downtown square in The Factor at Franklin.
Three stages, two in Liberty Hall and one in Jamison Hall, will start jamming 11 a.m. Saturday with Half Brass and at 1 p.m. Sunday with Ducaj’s quartet. Musicians also include Wild Animal with Mississippi Millie — a bluesy Zydeco band — and father/son Tim and Myles Thompson.
New to the event this year will be a Music Marketplace. At this location, in the middle of Jamison Hall, anyone can bring an item that is music related, price it out, and put it on the table. It will cost $5 to get into the event and the table will be survived.
Proceeds go to the Williamson County Cultural Arts Commission and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The WCCAC will have art on display for sale, and a silent auction for a piano will benefit Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Admission is $13 each day; $25 for both days. Go online towww.franklinjazzfestival.com. Food, wine and beer will be available for purchase.
