Fairgrounds Flea Market moving to Hickory Hollow?!?!

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean has committed $18 million to revitalize the struggling Hickory Hollow Mall, which includes Metro signing a lease for the vacant Dillard’s store. This space will likely be used as a new Expo center, where the flea market will be housed. “Southeast Davidson County is one of the fastest-growing parts of our city, and it’s a community where demands for services continue to grow,” Dean said. “These new public facilities will be breathe new life into Hickory Hollow Mall and benefit the surrounding retail and commercial areas by attracting more visitors and creating a more stable business environment.” Although the flea market may benefit the surrounding area, vendors are concerned about parking problems, potentially increased rent, and the overall experience of an indoor flea market. A town hall meeting also revealed taxpayer concerns as to whether the decision to move the flea market here is financially sound.
