As springtime rolls around and you begin making your summer plans, be sure to register for the 9th Annual Ellie’s Run for Africa! The yearly fundraiser is the product of Ellie Ambrose—who was 10-years-old at the time—and her compassionate heart. After merely seeing pictures of children in Africa living in slums, Ellie had the dream of raising funds to give children in Africa an education and the hope to get out of the slums.
Ellie’s Run for Africa provides the way for people to come together, dream big, and take action through the opportunity to run in the 5K race or fundraise as an “Ellie’s Run Hero.” To date, Ellie’s dream has raised over $410,000 and granted thousands of children an education. All of the funds from Ellie’s Run for Africa go to African Leadership Inc.
Getting involved with Ellie’s Run for Africa can be as simple as clicking here to donate. However, if you are interested in being a “Hero” and spearheading your own fundraising efforts, check out the Hero description and sign up here.
Additionally, be sure to sign up for the 5K race, which will be held on May 18th, 2013, beginning at 1st Ave and Broadway. The entry fee covers event entry, race registration, the race packet and t-shirt, breakfast and refreshments, and all performances and games. You can register for Ellie’s Run for Africa 5K here.
