The Metro Development and Housing Agency’s design review committee recently approved, with conditions, a mixed-use development on the corner of South Fifth and Woodland streets.
The 1.9-acre property at 416 Woodland St. in East Nashville will include 249 one- and two-bedroom residential units on five floors and 8,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space.
Southeast Venture LLC and Main St. Properties Inc., an affiliate of the Hardaway Group, submitted final plans for the development, EastSide Heights, to the review committee.
The building will have a commercial entrance on Woodland Street with 35-40 available parking spaces; residents primarily will use the access on Russell Street. The development also will include an open-air parking garage.
Southeast Venture, a Nashville-based commercial real estate and design company, has designed other apartment buildings in the Nashville area, as well as other mixed-use developments such as the 12 South Flats building.
“With more residents and retailers moving to East Nashville, as well as the neighborhood’s close proximity to downtown, this area is desirable for residents to live,” Stan Hardaway, president of the Hardaway Group, said in a prepared statement.
Southeast Venture and Main St. Properties will partner on the development. Southeast Venture will lead the design, and Hardaway Construction will handle the construction.
The project is expected to begin in the fall.
