Cummins Falls Becomes Tennessee State Park

Cummins Falls in Cookeville, Tenn. was welcomed by the state to become its 54th State Park yesterday.

Thanks to fundraising efforts by the Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation, the $2.1 million needed for the lane was raised – enough to fund the 211-acre site on the Blackburn Fork State River. There, the falls are 75 feet high, the eighth-largest in Tennessee based on water volume, complete with a swimming hole!

Starting today, members of the public are welcome to visit the falls – a destination that had become a popular attraction over the years despite being located on private property.

The location is 1225 Cummins Mill Road, Cookeville, TN 38501. From Interstate 40, take exit 280 to TN 56 north toward Gainesboro and go 7.7 miles. Turn right on TN 290 and go .9 miles. Turn left onto Cummins Mill Road and go 2.1 miles. Turn left onto Blackburn Fork Road and go .2 miles.
