Remember Room In The Inn? This upscale living facility for the homeless has been a successful addition to Nashville and the homeless community since early September. The organization began as a community of churches coming together to get the homeless off the streets by opening it’s church doors and providing shelter and food while they got their lives on track. Room In The Inn has now opened it’s very on facility to better provide for those on people on the streets. It serves as a place for them to come and either get their feet of the ground or for long-term use. Room In The Inn provides emergency shelter, daily meals, computer training, job coaching, and long term housing for Nashville’s homeless community. As we have previously mentioned, The $13million, 44,000 square foot Comprehensive Center is located at 705 Drexel St and 8th Ave S and features 38 affordable housing apartments, state-of-the-art classrooms and boardrooms overlooking downtown Nashville, a computer learning center and library, as well as an on-site cafe and art studio!
While, Room In The Inn served a hearty Thanksgiving meal last week, the facility serves meals everyday to those living in the facility. The home is open to the homeless but they must be eligible for the program by submitting an application, have a job, social security or military benefits, and be willing to sign a 6-month lease that requires they pay rent on a sliding scale based on income. All of the 500 square-foot apartments are fully furnished by Room In The Inn.
The facility has been successful in the recent months and has been popular among the Nashville homeless community. The facility is funded by people like you through benefit events as well as local churches. Because of it’s ability to provide shelter to those living on the streets, the facility is growing everyday. Events such as concerts provide Room In The Inn with the funding it needs to keep people off the streets and working towards providing for themselves. There are many upcoming Holiday events for you to attend and be entertained while supporting Room In The Inn!
