Nashville is home to a variety of fried poultry options but one has recently emerged in East Nashville that has a tradition all to its own!
Harold’s chicken is located on 811 Dickerson Road, Nashville, TN and is a chain primarily based out of the South Side of Chicago. Harold’s over the years has become an integral part of the South Side’s culture in Chicago. However, it recently has expanded to other locations in Illinois, Indiana, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Dallas, and now Nashville!
There are two major differences that make Harold’s chicken so great when it comes to the chicken business. First, their chicken is fried in a mix of half beef tallow and half vegetable oil, while some chains use only vegetable oil. This allows the chicken to taste more like traditional home-cooked chickens. The second difference is Harold’s has a chain wide rule that its chicken is cook to order. This means Harold’s chicken is not fried until it is ordered unlike other chicken restaurants who cook large batches and keep food warm using warming racks. This keeps the food especially fresh.
Harold’s offers a wide variety of menu choices including, chicken tenders, wings, chicken and waffles, catfish and perch. All of which are extremely delicious!
Harold’s is open:
Monday – Thursday: 11am-10pm
Friday: 11am-Midnight
Saturday: 11am-2am
