Change in the Neighborhood | Nashville Real Estate

    Edgehill Grocer

12 Ave will soon be getting a local grocery.  Soon, Lee’s Hair and Dollar on 12th Avenue South will be transformed into a neighborhood market that offers fresh fruits, dairy and other healthy food options.  The grocery store will be called none other than Edgehill Grocery.   Community Food Advocates partnered with Metro Public Health department to get a grant of $5000 to ensure convenient access to healthy food options.  The grocery will be sure to transform the convenience of grocery shopping for 12south, Edgehill and Belmont neighbors.

    21st Avenue Facelift

Construction for improvement of 21st Avenue roadscape is to begin this summer.  A grant from Tennessee Roadscapes of $100,000 was given to Metro to improve the sidewalks and roadways of Hillsboro Village, including adding a crosswalk at the most high traffic area.  Because this area gets so much foot traffic, neighbors, merchants and Metro see it is very important to improve the area.  The only question is, when is the best time to start the improvement.  While the summer seems best because Vanderbilt and Belmont student are out of school, merchants say it will take away from their business. The debate continues but TDOT hopes to begin improvements soon.

    Charlotte Mixed-use Space

The Metro planning committee has rezoned 20 acres of land at Charlotte Ave and 28th Ave North. The land was been promised to be the next investment venture for Ohio based real estate invesment, Health Care REIT. The vice-president and leader of the project, Ryan Doyle, says, “The economy is showing signs of life. Nashville is at the front edge of the economic recovery, and plans for the 28th Avenue connector make this the perfect location for a new development in Nashville’s urban core.” The company normally invests in health care ventures but he says, “we hope to attract a wide variety of companies and tenants to this new development….Given the proximity to major universities and corporate headquarters, we believe there is an opportunity to create something exciting in this central location.”

West Nashville gets two new bars

Both Melrose West and Neighbors bar are set to open in the Sylvan Park/West Nashville area this month. The Nashville Post says, the property — which once sited Lavender Motors — was sold for $400,000 to the innocuously-named 4408 Charlotte Pike Partners with George Spiva as the lone listed general partner. As a GP, Spiva has fronted a number of hip retail and restaurant projects — including Berry Hill bar The Melrose. Neighbors just received their alcohol permit on Wednesday and is set to open this month!
