Best Buddies Tennessee is a great local nonprofit that is devoted to creating “forever friendships,” integrated employment and leadership development for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
89 percent of all revenue raised for Best Buddies goes towards their programs for people with intellectual and development disabilities. When people with intellectual disabilities are unable to attain or maintain a job, it is most often due to an absence of social skills rather than an inadequacy to perform the required work. Best Buddies works to alleviate this by giving individuals chances for socialization and job coaching, providing the necessary tools for people with intellectual disabilities to grow towards more independence and more community involvement.
