Animal Lover’s Day | Nashville Staycation

Today marks the last day of our Nashville Staycation series! In this series we are giving readers a planned themed day out on the town to escape from your jobs, but not spend too much money by going on a vacation.

Today’s theme is Animal Lover’s Day. This theme is designed for all of everyone who wants to spend a day on the town with their furry friends.

Ugly Mugs

Start your day off at the pet friend Ugly Mugs in East Nashville. The shop is locally owned and operated and serves mainly coffee and food that is Nashville made. With coffee from Drew’s Brews and food from Sweet 16th and and Dozen Sweet shop, it is a great place to start off your morning. It is a great place for all occasions. Whether you are bring your kids or having a business meeting, it is perfect for you.

Radnor Lake

After a great breakfast, head over to Radnor Lake for a nice hike or run with your pet. Located in the Oak Hill community in Nashville. It is a beautiful area to go for a run with your dog or sit out by the lake and enjoy the view. Pets are not allowed in some areas of the lake, so check up before you go.

Calypso Cafe

After a beautiful morning by Radnor Lake, take a break for lunch at Calypso Cafe. With many locations across town, their East Nashville location is pet friendly. Pick up their great Cuban Black Bean Dip, a nice salad or an Island Burger while you are there. Don’t worry, there are also great nutritional options for the kids too!

The Cat Shoppe & The Dog Store

This is the ultimate pet friendly store specializing in unique toys, all-natural food, pet furniture and gift items. The shoppe is also the home to Cat Shoppe Rescue, Inc, which is a nonprofit that helps find cats a new home. You can also purchase t-shirts that benefit the nonprofit.

Pizzereal

After buying your pet a great new toy, head to Pizzereal in East Nashville for dinner. With great pizza, kebobs, greek salads and beer, there is something here for everyone. Everything is made fresh to order with no frozen ingredients and no heating lamps. Sit outside so your pet can join in on the experience.

Centennial Park

To end a great day with your pet, head to centennial park. Go for another light walk or even head to the beach volleyball courts for a friendly game. It’s a great place to end your day sitting by the majestic Parthenon and looking out at the beautiful lake and the rest of the park.
