We recently stumbled across this blog post written by Elizabeth at Style Blueprint. If you aren’t aware of the website, it is a hosted by two female Nashvillians who founded the website to open up conversation between women about things they are passionate about. They feature local shops, events and services and write a blog about all sorts of topics.
Yesterday, Style Blueprint’s Elizabeth posted a blog titled “Imagine a Better Bandywood,” in which she gave readers a glimpse into her dream for a reinvented and renovated Bandywood, which is a shopping area located in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville.
In her post, she invites readers to imagine Bandywood with aesthetic improvements, a “more cohesive, more unified and defined shopping area,” she writes. She dreams of Bandywood streets being sophisticated and shop-lined and the area being one of Nashville’s most fashionable retail districts.
She had a friend and designer draw up some sketches of a reinvented Bandywood, which she posted on the blog, and give his vision of the area. He shared with her images of streetscapes drenched with Southern charm, paying homage to the south’s architectural style. Materials used in his design included galvanized metal, wood lap siding, shutters, rock walls, industrial lighting, board and batton siding and cedar shake shingles.
She speaks highly of the renovations that the 12South neighborhood received and the boom that has occurred in that area in retail and restaurants – and may we include, in real estate!
We encourage you all to go read her article here and then come back and leave a comment and let us know what you think!
Do you think it’s time that the Bandywood area be renovated and possibly reinvented? Do you think it’s worth raising funds for or is that money that could be better spent somewhere else? Do you think the Green Hills area is lacking and could use a polished Bandywood area? We want to know what you think!
