12 South Farmers Market Grand Opening
This Tuesday May 24th from 3:30- 6:30pm
The 12 South Farmers Market is opening for the first time ever at Sevier Park this Tuesday at 3:30 to 6:30pm. 12 South residents have long been asking and desiring for the opportunity to acquire fresh local food close to home. “Having a weekly Farmers’ Market that would allow access to local, seasonal produce and food products will fit perfectly with the mission of our community. It not only helps to sustain more local businesses and our local economy, but further meets the needs of our neighborhood.” says local resident and Assistant Market Manager Mary Ellen Henley.
The 12 South area is already a destination spot for many Nashville locals which is home to several locally operated restaurants like Burger Up and Frothy Monkey. The Farmers Market will be a welcomed addition to the thriving community in South Nashville and a much needed resource for local groceries in the neighborhood.
The Market will be held at Sevier Park in the area off Clayton Ave and 12th Ave South. This Tuesday will be the grand opening for the Market starting at 3:30pm. In true 12 South style, the grand opening will feature a “Best Mustache” Contest in honor of Mustache May starting at 6pm as well as crafts for kids during the market where they can make their own mustaches.
The Market will be run by Good Food for Good People’s Mary Crimmins who founded the Woodbine Farmers Market last season, as well as local 12 South resident, Mary Ellen Henley. The Market will boast local produce, local meats, local cheeses, locally roasted coffee, local pies, and much more!
