$500M Mixed-Use Development for Cool Springs | Nashville Real Estate
The Franklin area is in the middle of a huge growth spurt and it doesn’t show any signs of stopping anytime soon!
Plans were announced today for a $500 million commercial mixed-use development to go up in the Cool Springs area of Franklin. Highwoods Properties announced their plans to develop up to 1.3 million square feet of office space on the land it has acquired on the property along McEwen Drive and Carothers Parkway, just southeast of the Nissan headquarters.
Late lat year, Highwoods purchased 68 acres of land, then-known as the Pickering property. SouthStar LLC, which is a local development and investment property, took possession of the other 77 acres. Together, the two will work together for the development of this huge project.
Highwoods will act as master developer of the overall commercial construction including the building of the office space, which is to be three times larger than the office space in Nissan’s HQ. SouthStar will develop retail space at the corner of its portion of the property, plus a little bit of office space, a hotel and residential projects, including single-family homes and apartments. One plan is to keep a large portion of the property as green space.
