Run with the Nations| Nashville Events
Run with the Nations is an annual 5k walk/run here in Nashville and this year’s event is just around the corner on June 16, 2012.
This annual 5k is hosted by African Leadership and World Relief in celebration of World Refugee Day. According to the Run with the Nations website,
“Each year, millions of refugees flee from oppression and persecution due to political turmoil, war, prejudice, and ethnic cleansing. They make long, dangerous journeys with no promise of safety or survival. Right now, there are tens of thousands of current and former refugees who have started their lives over right here in Middle Tennessee! With hard work and the support of the community, refugees overcome cultural and language barriers as they become self-sufficient.”
Come on June 16th to meet refugees who have settled here in Middle Tennessee and welcome them into our community as they transition into a new stage of life. The event is taking place at the Shelby Bottoms Greenway in East Nashville. Race registration opens at 7 a.m. and the opening ceremonies are at 7:40 a.m., with runners and walks starting at 8 a.m. If you register online, the cost is $25, versus a $30 cost of registering on the day of the event. You can also spend $20 to sponsor a refugee, or spend $15 on a t-shirt whose proceeds benefit World Relief and African Leadership.
