The Historic Franklin Theatre will light Main Street once again
The 1937 theatre located in downtown Franklin has been out of use for almost 40 years. It is currently under renovation and has been for about two years but is set to re-open this summer. The renovated theatre will feature 1930s art deco and 21st century technology, while still serving pizza and beer just like it once did in the 30s. While the theatre is still undergoing renovations, a full-scale replica of the iconic 1930’s art-deco sign from the Franklin Theatre has been created and will be lit for the first time in 40 years tomorrow night at 5pm in downtown Franklin.
“The public is invited to this weekend’s lighting ceremony. The theater’s Facebook page includes details on other upcoming events leading up to this summer’s re-opening. Free parking is available in downtown Franklin. Hatch Show Prints commemorating the relighting be sold Saturday at the lighting ceremony for $25.’
